Competition for the Zaporizhzhia Court of Appeal: Candidate Failed to Confirm the Ability to Administer Justice

On December 09, 2025, at the session of the High Qualification Commission of Judges of Ukraine, the panel conducted an interview and determined the results of the qualification assessment of Pavlo Kovalenko, the candidate for the position of judge at the Zaporizhzhia Court of Appeal.

During a special background check on the candidate, information was obtained that was assessed in determining compliance with the criteria of professional ethics and integrity during the interview and determining the results of the qualification assessment.

According to the results of the qualification assessment, Pavlo Kovalenko scored 640,25 points. The panel decided to recognise the candidate as not having confirmed his ability to administer justice in the general court of appeal.

Please be reminded that 33 candidates applied to participate in the competition for 16 vacant positions of judges in the Zaporizhzhia Court of Appeal.

In total, interviews were conducted with 33 candidates: 18 candidates confirmed their ability to administer justice in the general court of appeal, 14 candidates failed to confirm it, and 1 candidate will be interviewed by the plenary session of the Commission.
